An established steel fabrication company in the South-East of Melbourne CBD is seeking an experienced Estimator to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with clients, project managers, and production teams to deliver accurate and competitive quotations for structural steel and fabrication projects.

Your current role

- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for structural steel and fabrication projects.
- Perform material take-offs and calculate labour requirements.
- Source and negotiate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Assess project risks and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Liaise with clients, engineers, project managers, and workshop personnel.
- Maintain estimating databases and pricing schedules.
- Assist with tender submissions and contract handovers.

What you'll need to succeed





- Solid understanding of the requirements of ISO 3834 and AS/NZS 5131 Structural Steel Fabrication & Erection
- Minimum of five years experience in estimating within the steel fabrication, structural steel or construction industry
- Strong ability to interpret engineering and architectural drawings
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software
