The Parts Interpreter is responsible for the accurate identification, ordering, receipting, storage and supply of machinery parts to support workshop operations and internal business requirements. Reporting to the Workshop Manager, this role contributes to the efficient operation of the Parts Department by ensuring parts availability, inventory accuracy, and effective collaboration with workshop personnel and other departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and identify machinery parts using manufacturer catalogues and electronic parts systems.
- Order, receipt and maintain parts inventory.
- Pick, pack and dispatch freight as required.
- Process incoming stock and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Support workshop personnel by sourcing and supplying required parts.
- Maintain workshop and storage areas in a safe, organised and efficient manner.
- Participate in stocktakes and inventory control activities.
- Update inventory and parts management systems accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate stock levels to support operational requirements.
- Comply with company policies, procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.

- Knowledge of heavy diesel machinery parts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective organisational and time management skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Competent computer skills and experience using inventory or parts management systems.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work with limited supervision.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing operational requirements.
- A current driver's licence.
