To support our growing consultancy, we are looking for an excellent Senior Environmental Planner to join our planning and approvals team. We are open to candidates based in NSW or Victoria. Candidates should have experience in environmental planning and a strong and genuine interest in the waste and recycling industry.
What you can expect:
You will support our MRA’s dynamic and multidisciplinary team of professionals, including engineers, scientists, economists, planners, lawyers, social scientists and educators in the delivery of quality project outcomes for our clients. You can expect to be working in a team on projects for the private and the government sectors. You can expect to deliver projects including development applications, Waste Management Plans and Environmental Management Plans. You will be involved in stakeholder management, client liaison, and business development. You can also expect to be challenged through innovative and interesting projects.
You need to be resilient, flexible and able to prioritise and multitask as the role entails:
· Leading or assisting bid managers to compile bids and proposals for future work
· Project management of small, medium and large projects
· Research (e.g. into legislation, technology types, development pathways)
· Report writing, subconsultant management and stakeholder liaison
· Problem solving and project adaptation
Key capacities and skills:
Required:
· Degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning or relevant degree in Science or Environment
· Min. 5 yrs.
experience in Environmental Impact Assessment and/or Development Applications
· Understanding of Planning Policy and Regulation in NSW, Victoria or Queensland
· Profound and professional communication skills
· Very robust report writing skills
· Ability to work independently and in an innovative manner
· Excellent time management and prioritising skills
· Practical, client focused and highly motivated personality
· Cultural fit and shared vision are key attributes.
· Australian Citizenship or rights to work in Australia
Preferred:
· Experience in waste management, infrastructure, or industrial development applications
· Experience in complex approvals e.g. EIS or EES applications
Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of this role include:
• Assisting the planning team in:
o Managing small, medium and large projects
o Environmental impact assessment
o Preparation of planning and licensing applications
o Compliance and environmental management documentation
o Managing and compiling proposals for future work
o Preparing high quality reports for clients on time and within budget.
o Preparing responses to development application/licensing submissions
o Leading meetings
o Research (e.g. into legislation, waste management, site characteristics or management of potential impacts)
• Working with the broader MRA team to:
o Assist with time-sensitive projects or proposals
o Assist with research and business development for waste and recycling
