The CANBERRA IRISH CLUB is a small friendly club, situated in Weston ACT. The Club offers a range of facilities and services to its members and guests including bar, dining, functions, gaming machines and entertainment
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and creative Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and deliver a high‑quality dining experience for our members and guests. This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a busy environment, values consistency, and is passionate about great food.
About the Role
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the overall management of our kitchen operations, including:
Leading, mentoring, and developing a small and dedicated kitchen team
Designing seasonal menus that balance creativity with customer preferences
Ensuring food quality, presentation, and portion control are consistently maintained
Overseeing stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships
Managing food safety, hygiene standards, and compliance with ACT regulations
Coordinating kitchen rosters and supporting efficient wage and cost control
Working closely with management to deliver a robust, reliable, and contemporary bistro offering
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef
Strong leadership and communication skills
Excellent understanding of modern Australian pub/club cuisine
Strong organisational and time‑management abilities
A commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety
Creativity in menu development and a passion for delivering memorable meals
The ability to thrive in a quick‑paced, customer‑focused setting
