A purpose-driven community organisation is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join a frontline program supporting people experiencing significant disadvantage. This is a hands-on, community-based role combining direct client support with coordination and supervision of student placements and volunteers.
About the role
You will deliver trauma-informed social work support, helping clients access practical resources and longer-term pathways to stability and wellbeing. You will also coordinate and supervise social work students and volunteers to ensure safe, meaningful placement experiences aligned with qualified standards.
Key responsibilities
Provide assessment, intervention and case coordination for clients with complex needs
Support clients to access emergency accommodation, financial assistance and relevant health/legal/community services
Coordinate,
supervise and support social work students and volunteers (planning, learning support, feedback and secure practice)
Maintain safeguarding, confidentiality, accurate documentation and ethical practice
Collaborate with internal staff and external service providers/partner organisations
Contribute to program reporting, evaluation and service improvement activities
About you
Masters qualification in Social Work
Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience in community-based social work
Demonstrated experience supporting people experiencing homelessness and/or significant disadvantage (e.g., disability, AOD, chronic illness, domestic/family violence)
Robust trauma-informed practice, communication skills and ability to manage competing priorities
Experience supervising/mentoring students or supporting volunteers is highly regarded
A strong commitment to social justice and improving outcomes for vulnerable communities
