About the Business

Home Plate Kitchen is a busy dine-in cafe located in Burleigh Waters, Gold Coast. We operate 7 days a week, serving quality breakfast and lunch meals, specialty coffee, and rotating weekend specials. We are looking for a qualified and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. This is a genuine, ongoing position.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Plan and organise food preparation and cooking activities

· Prepare, season, and cook food to a high standard

· Assist with menu planning, costing, and development

· Monitor quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation

· Demonstrate techniques and advise on cooking procedures

· Coordinate kitchen operations and supervise kitchen staff

· Implement and monitor workplace health, safety, and hygiene regulations

· Estimate food and labour costs, and order food supplies

· Maintain consistency, quality control, and portion standards





· Monitor stock levels and minimise waste

· Assist with training kitchen staff as required

Skills and Experience

· Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification

· Minimum 2 years of relevant full time experience as a Chef

· Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards

· Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment

· Experience in menu development and cost control

· Robust organisational and time management skills

· Ability to supervise and train junior kitchen staff
