6–12 Month Contract | Canberra | Defence / Government Setting

Our client is a major digital innovator working across government and Defence programs. They are looking for a Senior Red Hat Engineer to support the delivery, maintenance and improvement of secure enterprise platforms in Canberra.

This is a hands‑on engineering role suited to someone with solid Red Hat experience who is comfortable working in complex environments. You do not need to be a deep specialist across every Red Hat product, but you should have good practical experience across Linux, OpenShift or related Red Hat technologies, and be able to work confidently with technical teams and stakeholders.

The role will involve supporting Red Hat-based platforms, helping with automation, troubleshooting issues, improving reliability, and contributing to secure platform delivery in a Defence workplace.

What You’ll Be Working On
Supporting and improving Red Hat-based enterprise platforms.
Working across Red Hat Enterprise Linux, OpenShift and related platform technologies.
Assisting with platform builds, upgrades, configuration and ongoing support.
Helping automate repeatable tasks using Ansible, scripting or similar tools.
Supporting container platform environments, including OpenShift.




Working with infrastructure, cloud, security and application teams to keep platforms reliable and secure.
Troubleshooting technical issues and helping resolve platform problems.
Contributing to documentation, runbooks and operational processes.
Supporting delivery in a secure Defence / government environment.
Strong experience working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Experience with Red Hat OpenShift or similar container platform environments.
Exposure to Red Hat CoreOS, OpenShift Data Foundation or Red Hat Satellite would be highly regarded.
Experience with Ansible, scripting or automation.
Positive general infrastructure knowledge across servers, networking, storage and security.
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and work through problems in a structured way.
Comfortable working in secure, complex or government environments.
Clear communication skills and the ability to work well with internal teams and client stakeholders.
Australian citizenship is required.
Security clearance will be required, ideally NV1 or above.
Demonstrated Defence experience is required.
This role is based in Canberra and will require onsite work.
