JS Careers has partnered with a leading insurer to recruit an experienced Insurance Risk Manager. This second line of defence role is an excellent chance for an insurance risk skilled with strong technical expertise and the ability to provide independent oversight, challenge, and insight across the organisation's insurance risk profile.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and enhance the Insurance Risk Framework, including policies, risk appetite metrics, and monitoring methodologies.
Ensure ongoing alignment with relevant APRA prudential standards, including GPS, CPS 220 and CPS 230.
Support the integration of insurance risk within the broader Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
Provide independent second-line oversight and challenge across underwriting, pricing, reserving, claims and reinsurance risk.
Review and challenge actuarial assessments, including reserve adequacy, claims development and key assumptions.
Assess underwriting, pricing and product decisions against the organisation's risk appetite and governance frameworks.
Prepare high-quality insurance risk reporting, providing meaningful insights to Executive Management and the Board Risk Committee.
Develop and maintain key risk indicators (KRIs),
dashboards and risk analytics to support informed decision-making.
Translate complex insurance risk issues into clear commercial and strategic insights for senior stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
5+ years' experience in insurance risk, actuarial, underwriting or another technical insurance discipline.
Experience within general insurance or private health insurance (strongly preferred).
Strong knowledge of insurance risk management practices and the APRA-regulated insurance environment.
A solid understanding of relevant APRA prudential standards and insurance risk governance.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex technical information and communicate it effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports and Board or Risk Committee papers.
Experience using GRC systems will be viewed favourably.
