About Powerhouse
Powerhouse Parramatta is Western Sydney’s first state cultural institution and one of the world’s most significant current museum projects. Opening in late 2026 with an anticipated annual visitation of over 2million, the Powerhouse will open with 5 international exhibitions that reflect the ambition of the museum across the applied arts and sciences, culture, industry and innovation. The program has been developed in collaboration with the communities of Western Sydney, and local and international collaborators.
Role Description
Powerhouse is undergoing a major transformation in its history. As we reimagine what a museum can be, we are looking for an exceptional Collection Curator to help shape the future of the Powerhouse Collection.
This is not a traditional curatorial role. It is an chance to influence how one of Australia’s most key collections grows, evolves and connects with contemporary audiences, industry and researchers.
You will play a leading role in identifying and acquiring objects and digital material that reflect the creativity, innovation and cultural significance of applied arts while ensuring the collection remains relevant for generations to come.
Working collaboratively across curatorial, collections, exhibitions, research and public programs, you’ll help deliver a strategic collection that reflects the breadth of design, technology and creative practice that defines Powerhouse.
