Job Summary

Senior Speech Pathologist – Rural Generalist

Location: Mercy Care Centre, Young, NSW (MMCY). Employment type: Permanent full‑time (part‑time applicants considered). Hours: 40 hours per week. Salary: Level 3 (Senior) with Level1‑2 eligible to apply. This role delivers speech, language and swallowing therapy to adults across inpatient and outpatient settings in a publicly funded rural hospital and community service.

Responsibilities
Conduct assessments, develop and implement individualized treatment plans for adults with acquired communication and swallowing impairments.
Provide acute and ongoing therapy for conditions such as neuro‑degenerative disorders, acquired brain injury, head and neck cancer and other medical conditions.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and dietitians, to coordinate patient care.
Educate patients, families and staff on therapy goals, progress and strategies for communication support.
Lead and mentor allied health staff, promoting best practice and career development.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the department.




Participate in community outreach and network activities to strengthen the regional speech therapy service.

Qualifications
Registered Speech Pathologist (SPA) with Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status.
Previous hospital‑based experience with adult patient populations; generalist skill set preferred.
Current Police Record Check and NSW Working with Children Check.
Unrestricted Australian driver’s licence.
Current vaccination status aligned with NSW Health requirements.
