Role Description

Role Description The Chairperson role at Heroes of Today is a volunteer, remote position focused on leading and nurturing the community. The Chairperson oversees strategic direction, facilitates online meetings and discussions, and supports the planning and coordination of community initiatives and events. This role involves collaborating with volunteers, moderating digital platforms, and ensuring that communication within the community remains respectful, inclusive, and aligned with the organization’s values. The Chairperson also helps build partnerships, encourages member engagement,



and represents Heroes of Today in external conversations and collaborations. Day-to-day responsibilities include setting agendas, guiding decision-making processes, and providing guidance and support to core team members.

Qualifications
Demonstrated leadership experience in community-building, nonprofit, or volunteer settings.
Strong communication skills, including facilitation of online meetings and explicit, inclusive written communication.
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups and foster a respectful, supportive workplace.
Organizational and planning skills to manage initiatives, set priorities, and follow through on commitments.
Comfort working remotely with digital collaboration tools (e.g., video conferencing, online communities, shared documents).
Commitment to inclusivity, empathy, and the mission of connecting like-minded individuals in a meaningful community.
Experience in governance, strategic planning, or advisory roles is beneficial but not required.
Availability to contribute consistent volunteer time and participate in regular virtual meetings.
