We're partnering with a leading financial services organisation on the search for a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-performing technology team delivering innovative solutions at scale.
This is a 12-month contract prospect based in Melbourne, offering a competitive day rate and the chance to work on cutting-edge AI and cloud-native initiatives.
As a senior member of the engineering team, you'll play a key role in the design, build, and ongoing maintenance of highly scalable microservices and event-driven platforms. You'll be heavily involved in the development of AI-powered solutions, including prompt engineering from the ground up, helping shape how emerging AI technologies are integrated into enterprise systems.
You will work across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to architecture decisions, improving engineering standards, and delivering resilient, production-grade solutions. The role focuses on API-driven, cloud-native applications and modern engineering practices.
What we're looking for
Solid commercial experience building and maintaining microservices architectures
Proven expertise with:
Java
Spring Boot
Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Kafka
Docker
Kubernetes
Experience designing and delivering highly transactional, event-driven systems
Exposure to AI technologies, Large Language Models (LLMs), and prompt engineering concepts
Strong understanding of real-time and asynchronous messaging patterns
Team-oriented mindset with experience working in Agile engineering teams
