We are seeking experienced Category Managers for a 6‐12 month fixed‐term contract within our Commercial team. The role offers a chance to immediately influence strategy, manage financial performance and growth, and lead a high‐performing team.

What you'll do

As a pivotal Commercial leader, you will develop and execute end‐to‐end category strategy, own profitability and market share, and coach a diverse team across cross‐functional functions.
Drive strategy: Develop and implement customer‐centred category plans and reviews to meet KPIs across sales, profit, inventory, and market share.
Create value: Negotiate effectively with suppliers on range, cost of goods and promotional investments to secure a competitive advantage.
Own the "4Ps": Oversee product, price, promotion and placement, ensuring all legal and statutory compliance.
Collaborate: Partner with Marketing, Online, Replenishment and Insights teams to deliver seamless category strategies.
Lead & mentor: Coach, manage and develop team members to foster high performance and resolve customer or store issues promptly.

What you'll bring

To be successful, you will have:




Proven buying/category management experience in a large supermarket or FMCG workplace.
Robust financial and data literacy (including Excel or Google Sheets) to develop market‐leading category plans and deliver continuous improvement based on commercial insights.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders at all levels, combining excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative cross‐functional approach.
A reputation as an outstanding leader and team player who can coach a high‐performing team.
High organisational, adaptability, resilience and excellent communication skills in alignment with Woolworths values.
