Thought Digest Media Group (TDMG) is an independent media and communications enterprise based in Sydney, Australia, specializing in strategic comms, media literacy, and producing informed content.
TDMG focuses on helping organizations navigate complex environments and communicate clearly and responsibly.
The group is committed to promoting public discourse and critical thinking through educational initiatives and content development.
Volunteers joining TDMG have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that support media literacy and evidence-based communication.
Previously a newsroom "Slam! News Australia", TDMG has pivoted to being a more flexible platform.
The Role
This is a remote position supporting TDMG's editorial projects.
Researchers will source and analyze information from credible publications, academic sources, and public data to underpin news videos, training materials and other content.
Day-to-day tasks include conducting background research, compiling research briefs, verifying facts and references, and assisting with editorial planning for media literacy and strategic communication content.
The role also involves collaborating with editors and contributors to refine story angles, ensure accuracy, and maintain consistent editorial standards across digital and print outputs.
Volunteers will gain experience in editorial workflows, applied research, and media literacy practices while working flexible hours.

Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for passionate, curious, and committed individuals who want to develop their skills in journalism/media.
You need to have an interest or are open to exploring topics such as:
Australian Politics
Geopolitics & International Relations
Economics
Qualifications
Hold strong research and analytical skills for sourcing, evaluating, and synthesizing information.
Possess fact-checking and editorial skills to verify accuracy, support transparent narratives, and adhere to editorial guidelines.
Have effective communication skills to collaborate with editors, writers, and project leads in a remote environment.
Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently and meet agreed timelines.
Experience using online research tools, academic databases, and productivity platforms (e.g., shared documents, project management tools).
Relevant studies or background in communications, journalism, media studies, or social sciences are an advantage but not required.
