We are seeking a highly capable FOI Officer to join a newly established regulatory authority responsible for safeguarding children's safety, wellbeing and quality outcomes across the early childhood sector.

About the Opportunity
Joining a collaborative and high-functioning team, you will be responsible for managing FOI matters and providing expert advice on legislative obligations, compliance, and information access requests.
This role would suit someone who can confidently manage complex and sensitive matters, work autonomously, and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end FOI requests in accordance with relevant legislation
Draft high-quality FOI decisions, correspondence and recommendations
Provide advice on FOI requirements, exemptions and disclosure obligations
Prepare briefs, reports and responses relating to complex information requests
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding FOI matters
Support compliance, governance and information management activities
Contribute to the development and improvement of policies, procedures and reporting frameworks
About You




To be successful, you will demonstrate:
Previous Commonwealth Government FOI experience (essential)
Solid knowledge of the Freedom of Information framework and decision-making processes
Experience managing sensitive and complex requests
Ability to interpret legislation and provide practical advice
Excellent written communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience preparing submissions, briefs, determinations or review documentation
Privacy, governance or regulatory experience will be highly regarded
