We are seeking an IT Infrastructure Lead to lead, govern and continuously improve core infrastructure services for a Wipro-led managed services account within an Australian Energy & Utilities organisation.
This is a senior, client-embedded leadership role accountable for end-to-end infrastructure outcomes across networks, cloud management, on-prem data centre operations and observability in a highly regulated, always-on critical infrastructure environment.
The role sits at the intersection of deep infrastructure technical expertise, operational excellence and consulting-grade problem solving.
You will own run-and-improve outcomes across infrastructure towers that report into this role (IT networks, cloud management, on-prem data centre operations and observability operations), while orchestrating third-party providers and internal teams to deliver secure, measurable and experience-led outcomes.
Success in this role is measured first and foremost by business outcomes and experience outcomes—delivered through business-level agreements (BLAs) and experience measures (XLAs).
Operational metrics (e.g., availability, incident and change performance, observability signals) are treated as leading indicators that enable business outcomes, not the outcome themselves.
Scope of services: This role owns run-and-improve outcomes for core infrastructure operations as part of a Wipro-led managed service.
Scope typically includes network operations (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, internet/edge, DNS/DHCP/IPAM, network security coordination), cloud operations and governance (IaaS/PaaS operations, landing zone guardrails, cost/FinOps and lifecycle management), on-prem data centre operations (compute/storage/virtualisation, backup/DR, capacity, patching, job scheduling and facilities coordination), and observability operations (monitoring, logging, APM, event correlation, SRE-style reliability practices).
This role interfaces closely with security, IAM and OT teams to manage dependencies and ensure controls and resilience are fit-for-purpose for critical infrastructure.
Operate effectively in a multi-vendor environment—integrating internal teams and third-party providers through clear service integration, governance rhythms and outcome-based performance management.
Authority model: This role holds delegated authority to set infrastructure operational standards, approve and enforce runbooks and operational controls, prioritise the business-outcome improvement backlog (including CSI initiatives), and drive cross-vendor remediation through agreed service integration, governance and change control.

Operating within SOCI obligations and critical infrastructure expectations, you will bring executive gravitas and presentation excellence to engage credibly with CIOs, CISOs, Heads of Operations and governance forums—translating operational realities into clear risks, decisions and roadmaps.
What You Will Do
Own end-to-end infrastructure outcomes across towersOwn end-to-end infrastructure outcomes across IT networks, cloud operations, on-prem data centre operations and observability services, ensuring infrastructure enables safe, reliable and productive business operations.
Define and govern business-level agreements (BLAs) and experience outcomes (XLAs) for critical user groups and operational contexts (control room, depot, field, corporate).
Establish clear accountability, RACI and escalation paths across infrastructure teams, service partners and dependent functions (security, OT, applications).
Lead network, cloud, data centre and observability operationsLead IT network operations covering core connectivity, edge services and operational readiness for corporate and field environments.
Lead cloud management operations, ensuring standardised landing zones, governance guardrails, cost control, and reliable platform operations.
Lead on-prem data centre operations including compute/storage/virtualisation, backup and disaster recovery, patching and capacity management.
Lead observability operations across monitoring, logging, event correlation and incident detection—driving early pattern detection and operational insight that protects business outcomes.
Translate reliability and operational signals into business outcomesBring hands-on depth to diagnose complex, systemic issues beyond ticket volumes—across network dependencies, cloud/platform services, data centre components and observability signals.
Detect early patterns of degradation; lead structured problem management and RCA to eliminate root causes, not symptoms.
Maintain a prioritised improvement backlog informed by business impact, experience outcomes, observability telemetry, RCA findings and operational risk signals.
Use operational metrics (e.g., change success, incident recurrence, detection quality) as leading indicators to protect and improve BLAs and XLAs.

Ensure learnings translate into sustained uplift through standardised runbooks, automation and preventative controls.
Operate in critical infrastructure and SOCI-aware environmentsEnsure infrastructure operations are fit-for-purpose for critical infrastructure, including operationally sensitive environments and high-availability requirements.
Partner with security, risk and compliance teams to embed security-by-design into infrastructure operations and ensure alignment with SOCI obligations and audit expectations.
Support assurance activities with defensible narratives on controls, risk posture, resilience and disaster recovery readiness—aligned to regulated utility governance expectations.
Provide governance, vendor performance management and executive confidenceChair and run governance rhythms: operational reviews, vendor performance reviews, change governance, major incident reviews and executive steerco reporting.
Drive cross-vendor performance management with evidence-based reporting, clear obligations, remediation plans and outcome-based accountability.
Develop executive-ready artefacts: business outcome narratives, BLA/XLA reporting, risk and control summaries, audit-ready evidence packs, and roadmap/investment cases.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders; articulate trade-offs between business outcomes, experience, security, cost and operational risk with clarity and credibility.
Australia-specific priorities
Core infrastructure services supporting regulated energy networks, water utilities and government-owned critical infrastructure.
Highly distributed environments across control rooms, depots, field crews and corporate sites with different resilience and connectivity needs.
SOCI-aware security, resilience and audit expectations impacting network operations, cloud governance, privileged access and incident response.
Zero-tolerance environments for sustained degradation that impacts safety, reliability, regulatory standing or customer outcomes.
What We Are Looking For
Experience & background
*****+ years' experience leading infrastructure operations within large, complex or regulated organisations.
Demonstrated experience running client-embedded managed service operations across networks, cloud and data centre towers.
Experience operating in utilities, critical infrastructure, government or comparable high-risk environments with strong governance expectations.
Proven experience engaging credibly with CIO, CISO, Operations and Risk leaders, including governance and assurance forums.
