About the role
The Clinical Nurse provides person-centred nursing care to Aboriginal, Guardianship of the Chief Executive, and other vulnerable young people, with a focus on prevention, early intervention, and reducing the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
The role is accountable for delivering high-quality clinical care, supporting students and less experienced staff, contributing to service improvement, and delivering specialised programs, including support for young parents, to promote resilience and positive health outcomes.
Key duties of the role
Provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing care and/or individual case management to vulnerable young people within a trauma specialist youth health setting
Assists and supports the Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent in management, clinical, and education activities
Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience
Integrate advanced theoretical knowledge, evidence from a range of sources and own experience to devise and achieve agreed consumer/ client care outcomes
Provide nursing leadership, promote continuity of care through collaboration with the MYH Manager, support client case management, and contribute expert knowledge through designated activities and portfolio responsibilities
Skills and Experience
Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate
Demonstrated competence in relevant nursing practice and knowledge of contemporary healthcare standards and legislation
Proven ability to provide leadership, support staff development, and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities independently
Experience working with Aboriginal consumers and understanding of culturally responsive, community-based healthcare practices
