THE ROLE
The Director, Strategic Policy and Projects, leads the Aboriginal Policy and Priority Projects teams to work collaboratively across the department and in partnership with Aboriginal organisations to promote and deliver department-wide responses and enablers to deliver the Victorian government's commitment to self-determination and closing the gap.

The Director, Strategic Policy and Projects, leads the Aboriginal Policy and Priority Projects teams to work collaboratively across the department and in partnership with Aboriginal organisations to promote and deliver department-wide responses and enablers to deliver the Victorian government's commitment to self-determination and closing the gap.
You play a key leadership role in overseeing and coordinating the delivery and implementation of Closing the Gap and self-determination commitments across the department, provide strategic and authoritative policy advice and the delivery of key department-wide policy initiatives and projects.
You support the Executive Director in the leadership of the division and participate in key advisory and governing bodies and projects to achieve tangible self-determination for Aboriginal organisations and communities.
The position will require expert knowledge of Aboriginal culture, self-determination, Aboriginal policy and programs, as well as highly developed leadership, negotiation and team building skills.

Accountabilities Include
Provide strategic leadership and direction to lead the team and enable the department to deliver on and achieve Aboriginal self-determination and other outcomes.
Provide strategic, expert and authoritative advice to senior departmental leadership and portfolio Ministers on Aboriginal policy and program design, development and implementation.
Build, strengthen and maintain a high-performing, robust, resilient, collegiate and evidence-informed team through exceptional leadership, team building strategy and business plans and supporting staff to produce innovative, quality outcomes in high-pressure, energetic and time sensitive environments.
