About Clever Gear
Clever Gear is a rapid-growing consumer technology distributor and the exclusive Australian and New Zealand distribution partner for some of the world's most innovative technology brands—including Starlink, Govee, SwitchBot and more.
We bring these brands to market and drive their success across national retail, ecommerce, supply chain, operations and customer experience.
Our portfolio spans connected home, networking, lifestyle and emerging consumer technology.
Working at Clever Gear means operating behind some of the world's most exciting technology brands and playing a direct role in how they launch, scale and succeed across Australia and New Zealand.
About the role
We are creating an Operations Manager – Systems & Improvement role to strengthen and improve how Clever Gear operates as the business grows.
You are a practical problem-solver and highly capable generalist with a genuine passion for consumer technology.
You are energised by variety and comfortable taking responsibility for work that has not yet been clearly defined.
You can think strategically, but you are equally willing to inspect the data, test the workflow, or work through the operational detail yourself.
You will not be handed perfectly scoped projects, so being adaptable will be a key requirement for this role.
You will be expected to understand the problem, challenge assumptions, identify the right solution and carry it through to implementation.
This is a high-growth, highly autonomous opportunity where you can shape the role around the value you create, build new capabilities and expand your scope and influence as Clever Gear scales.
What you will do
Improve processes across the business
Identify bottlenecks, repeated errors, manual work and ownership gaps across core business workflows.
Observe and map how work happens, identify root causes and design simpler processes with the people who use them.

Own improvements through diagnosis, testing, rollout, documentation, adoption and measurement.
Establish and manage a prioritised improvement backlog.
Build practical systems and reporting
Build or improve practical dashboards and no-code or low-code workflows, including n8n, to reduce repetitive work and errors.
Use data and reporting to give teams timely visibility of performance, exceptions and risks.
Understand how systems connect, investigate issues and translate requirements between operational and technical partners.
Help the business make better use of its existing tools and identify new technology where it creates genuine value.
Deliver cross-functional initiatives
Turn loosely defined priorities into clear outcomes, plans, owners and milestones.
Coordinate internal teams, retailers, suppliers, technology partners and 3PLs to keep initiatives moving.
Surface risks and decisions early, recommend a path forward and follow through to delivery.
Take ownership of important problems that sit between teams.
Improve operational visibility and control
Develop useful operating rhythms, reporting and controls without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
Investigate performance issues using data, observation and input from the people closest to the work.
Prioritise opportunities based on revenue upside, cost savings, effort, customer impact and operational risk.
Ensure completed initiatives leave behind a durable process, system or accountable owner.
What you will bring
Our priority is work ethic and attitude over aptitude.
Skills and tools can be taught.
You will bring:
A strong work ethic, positive attitude and ownership mindset.
Curiosity,

sound judgement and critical thinking—you test assumptions and address root causes rather than symptoms.
A genuine passion for consumer technology, with a natural interest in new products, emerging trends and how technology improves the way people live and work.
Confidence working with data, dashboards and no-code or low-code tools to solve practical problems.
Coding is not required.
The ability to understand how systems and processes fit together and learn new tools when required.
A track record of taking ambiguous work from an initial question through to an adopted solution.
Clear communication and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
The drive to work autonomously while keeping others informed.
Nice to have
Experience in consumer electronics, technology distribution, wholesale, retail operations or ecommerce.
Familiarity with ecommerce, ERP, inventory, warehouse or integration platforms.
Experience with specific systems is not required.
Exposure to process mapping, dashboards, automation or business improvement projects.
What success looks like
Within your first three months, you will understand our key workflows, build strong working relationships and establish a prioritised improvement backlog.
By six months, you will have delivered visible improvements across processes, dashboards or automation.
By the end of your first year, you will be recognised as a trusted operator who can take an ambiguous business problem and carry it through to a practical result.
Work behind globally recognised and category-leading consumer technology brands.
Take ownership of meaningful initiatives with visible commercial impact.
Enjoy a varied role spanning operations, systems, reporting and business improvement.
Shape your position and expand your influence as the business grows.
Work in a hybrid arrangement, including two days per week in our Chadstone office.
If you are a highly capable generalist who enjoys solving difficult problems, learning quickly and taking ownership from idea through to implementation, we would love to hear from you.
