The Role
The Associate Head of School plays a supporting role in ensuring the School's Vision, Purpose, and Values are operationalised, fostering a dynamic and inclusive culture that prioritises student growth, staff collaboration, and parent engagement.
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Campus - Head of School , this role provides pastoral and operational leadership of the Sub-School while ensuring the seamless coordination of operations, and significant events, creating an environment where every student is known, valued, and supported.
This Associate Head of School position is for the Year 7-8 Sub School at Caulfield Campus.
As a member of the Campus Leadership Team, the Associate Head of School works with the Deputy Head of Campus - Head of School to lead the Heads of House team, strengthening the school's pastoral care structures as well as supporting the teaching and learning team to align school-wide academic priorities.
By fostering collaboration across pastoral and academic teams and supporting school-wide and Campus initiatives, this role delivers holistic support and enhanced outcomes for students.
This will be a 3-year fixed term Positions of Responsibility (POR) commencing in January ****.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure Sub-School experiences foster an inclusive culture where all students feel safe, connected, and are known and valued by staff for their unique contributions.
Contribute to the establishment and implementation of Sub-School shared expectations and priorities, ensuring alignment with the school's strategic direction, and drive accountability for both you and team in achieving measurable outcomes.
Uphold high-performance standards by providing ongoing support to Heads and with aim of continuous improvement of practice.
Support and foster staff wellbeing and a healthy work environment.
Provide leadership and direction to the Heads of House, and Faculty staff across the campus with a focus of creating a strong vibrant learning culture
Support Deputy Head of Campus - Head of School to provide meaningful student leadership opportunities, actively guiding and empowering appointed student leaders.
Ensure student voice is actively sought, respected, and integrated as appropriate into decision-making and contributes to shaping culture of the school
Support and participate in the recruitment and induction of staff across the campus to ensure a high-quality and well-integrated team.
Support staff development by providing meaningful professional learning opportunities that enhance teaching effectiveness and pastoral care
Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours
Key Selection Criteria
Tertiary qualifications in Education (postgraduate qualifications desirable).
Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration
Minimum 3 years proven record as an outstanding teacher.
Some experience leading and fostering a collaborative, inclusive, trusting culture.
Extensive experience in supporting staff, students and families to facilitate positive student outcomes.
Some experience in collaboratively leading social emotional learning programs.
Experience using proactive and responsive strategies to manage significant student behavioural and wellbeing concerns.
Experience in building strong relationships with and managing multiple stakeholders, including staff, students, parent/carer/guardian and the wider community
Ability to drive change and inspire a culture of continuous improvement.
Ability to foster a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility for student success (including student pathways).
Confident and articulate public speaker with strong written communication skills.
