We're seeking an experienced electrician ready to transition into an office-based role, designing solar and battery storage systems using our OpenSolar platform.
About the Role:
This is a great prospect for someone looking to move off the tools and apply their electrical expertise in a design and coordination capacity.
You'll play a key role in shaping residential and commercial solar PV and battery systems, ensuring alignment with SAPN requirements and broader infrastructure needs, while working closely with multiple departments—sales, finance, and installation—to deliver compliant, high-quality solar PV and battery solutions.
This role requires a proactive problem-solver who can assess electrical infrastructure, identify issues, and deliver practical solutions.
You'll be responsible for designing compliant solar PV and battery systems, communicating technical requirements clearly, and supporting project delivery across residential and commercial sites.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential, along with a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
Design solar PV and battery storage systems using OpenSolar software.
Assess and identify required modifications to existing electrical infrastructure.
Provide clear, actionable instructions to internal teams, customers, and contractors.
Ensure designs meet SAPN standards and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate across departments to support smooth project execution.
Apply strong IT skills to manage design workflows and documentation.
What We're Looking For:
Electrical Licence or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in solar PV and battery system design
Strong understanding of SAPN connection requirements.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues under pressure.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support other departments.
High level of IT competency, particularly with cloud-based platforms.
