The Opportunity
Sante Recruitment is partnering with Southern NSW Local Health District to appoint a Consultant Physician with an interest in Geriatric and/or Rehabilitation Medicine at South East Regional Hospital.
This is a unique leadership opportunity within a purpose-built Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Unit (SARU), offering the chance to shape and lead a growing service while maintaining a broad scope across general and consultative medicine.
You will play a key role in delivering specialist geriatric and rehabilitation care, contributing to multidisciplinary care models, and supporting the development of high-quality regional health services.
The Hospital
Opened in ****, South East Regional Hospital is a contemporary, well-equipped regional referral facility offering:
Emergency Department
Medical and surgical inpatient services
Level 3 maternity and paediatric units
Intensive Care Unit with 24-hour consultant and registrar cover
Three operating theatres (including day surgery)
Inpatient mental health unit
Sub-acute rehabilitation unit (20 beds)
Renal dialysis and outpatient cancer services
State-of-the-art simulation and training centre
The hospital is part of a broader network covering the South Coast and surrounding regions, delivering care across a diverse and growing population.
Your Role
Reporting to the Director of Medical Services, you will:
Providespecialist geriatric and rehabilitation services
Take alead role in the 20-bed Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Unit (SARU)
Contribute to thegeneral medicine on-call roster
Provideortho-geriatric supportto a busy orthopaedic service
Deliverconsultative geriatric care across the hospital
Participate inteaching,



supervision, and mentoringof trainees
Contribute toresearch and service development initiatives
You will work within a collaborative physician group and an established multidisciplinary team.

Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists

You will be actively involved in education and supervision of Basic Physician Trainees, medical students, and junior doctors, supported by rotations from Canberra Hospital.
