Relocate to Tasmania - Head of Operations
The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) is transforming how education is delivered in Tasmania.
Through the introduction of Multi-School Organisations (MSOs), we are bringing schools together under shared leadership to strengthen collaboration, streamline operations, and improve student outcomes.
With the first MSO launched in ****, we are now recruiting a Head of Operations to help establish MSO 2 ahead of its **** launch.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking approach to education—supporting principals and teachers, reducing administrative burden, and enabling schools to focus on improving learning and wellbeing outcomes together.
About the Role
This role will see you lead the development and delivery of the MSO's operational strategy, using innovative and evidence-based approaches to support improved educational outcomes.
As a key member of the leadership team, you will align systems, processes, and culture to drive effectiveness and growth, while delivering high-quality, centralised services that enable school leaders to focus on teaching and learning.
Working closely with the CEO, you will ensure operations are strategically aligned to educational priorities, supporting consistency, scalability, and equity across the school network.
Who we are looking for
leadership experience with accountability across operations, finance, people, facilities, governance, corporate services, and/or transformation
Proven capability in and knowledge of financial management, procurement, delegations, risk oversight, and compliance, including budget planning, resource allocation, and navigating regulatory, legislative compliance, and governance frameworks
Experience building and improving systems in a dynamic, reform-driven environments
Proven ability to lead change, foster innovation, and drive continuous improvement
Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills,
with the ability to work effectively across diverse internal and external groups
Driven by purpose and motivated by making a positive difference
Work alongside a passionate and expert team, including a CEO who has already operated in this model
Three (3) years fixed term contract whilst the program is in its trial phase, ideally starting in November **** (negotiable)

You will be based in one of our schools that will be part of MSO 2 in the north of the State - Ravenswood Heights Primary School, St Leonards Primary School or Youngtown Primary School
