The Vice‐Chancellor's Indigenous Research Fellowship programme offers a range of fellowships for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold a PhD and be of recognized Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage. Confirmation of heritage is required.
Each fellowship level requires an established track record in high‐quality research aligned with RMIT's Strategic Research Priority Areas, with demonstrated ability to lead research, build teams, develop networks and manage collaborative partnered research projects in a global environment.
Fellowships
Vice‐Chancellor's Indigenous Principal Research Fellowship
Duration: 4 years
Salary: Academic Level D1‐D4 (based on experience)
Research support funding: $40,000 per annum for 4 years
Vice‐Chancellor's Indigenous Senior Research Fellowship
Duration: 4 years
Salary: Academic Level C1‐C6 (based on experience)
Research support funding: $30,000 per annum
Vice‐Chancellor's Indigenous Research Fellowship
Duration: 4 years
Salary: Academic Level B2‐B6 (based on experience)
Research support funding: $20,000 per annum
Vice‐Chancellor's Indigenous Postdoctoral Research Fellowship
Duration: 4 years
Salary: Academic Level A6‐B2 (based on year of PhD conferral)
Research support funding: $10,000 per annum

Fellowships are identified opportunities under 'Special Measures' of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act ****. Only Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible.
Applicants currently employed by RMIT in continuing/ongoing positions are not eligible for these fellowships.
