About The Role
The IT Security Lead plays a key role in supporting ATOM's day‐to‐day security operations while also contributing to longer‐term improvements in how security is managed across the organisation. This role has a solid operational focus, including monitoring, alert triage, incident response and maintaining core security controls.
You will work closely with internal IT teams and external service providers to ensure security issues are identified, investigated, and resolved effectively, with appropriate escalation where required.
In addition to operational responsibilities, the role contributes to strengthening security practices across the business. This includes supporting vulnerability management, assisting with audits and compliance activities, maintaining policies and documentation, and contributing to initiatives such as system hardening, patching uplift and improved monitoring capability.
The role also provides practical guidance to business stakeholders, helping to ensure security requirements are understood and applied in a way that is fit for purpose and aligned to operational needs.
You will play a part in promoting awareness and supporting a consistent and pragmatic approach to security risk management across the organisation. This position will suit someone who is comfortable working in a hands‐on environment, can manage competing priorities, and is able to work effectively across a mix of internal teams and external partners in a managed service model.
About You
You are a detail‐oriented and collaborative IT security professional who enjoys both operational and improvement focused work. You bring strong problem‐solving skills and the ability to communicate technical security concepts in a clear and practical way.
You will have:
Experience in IT support, systems administration, or security operations
A solid understanding of cybersecurity principles (threats, vulnerabilities, incident response)
Familiarity with tools such as endpoint protection, MFA, SIEM, and identity platforms
Knowledge of frameworks such as NIST, ISO *****, or the Essential Eight
Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills
A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
Relevant security certifications are highly regarded.
