The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Manager, Business Enablement & Controls to play a critical role in enabling the business to effectively manage risk and compliance within its approved risk appetite.
Embedded within Line 1, this role is accountable for identifying, assessing, managing and monitoring risks and compliance obligations arising from business activities.
You will work closely with business leaders, Control Owners and Line 2 Risk & Compliance to ensure strong risk governance, effective controls and compliance with internal policies, regulatory obligations and APRA Prudential Standards (including CPS 220 and CPS 230).
This is a hands‐on role suited to a proactive risk professional who enjoys partnering with the business, driving practical outcomes and uplifting risk capability and culture.
Key Responsibilities
As the Manager, Business Enablement & Controls, you will have end‐to‐end ownership of Line 1 risk and compliance management, including:
Support the Line 1 Risk Owner (or delegate) in identifying, assessing and managing material risks arising from business activities.
Ensure risks are clearly articulated, current and aligned to the approved risk appetite.
Escalate material risks, breaches and emerging issues in a timely manner.
Lead and maintain risk and control assessments using the approved risk taxonomy, methodology and tools.
Identify inherent risks,



document key controls and assess residual risk outcomes.
Ensure assessments are reviewed regularly and updated for changes in business activities, systems or regulatory requirements.
Design, implement and maintain effective preventive and detective controls aligned to obligations and risk appetite.
Perform Line 1 control monitoring and assurance activities to confirm controls operate as intended.
Identify control weaknesses and drive timely remediation actions.
Incident, Breach & Issue Management
Identify, assess and manage incidents, near misses, breaches and issues in line with internal requirements and CPS 230.
Ensure root cause analysis is completed and corrective actions are defined, tracked and closed.
Embed lessons learned into business processes and control design.
Compliance with Policies & Obligations
Ensure business activities comply with internal policies, standards and procedures, as well as applicable regulatory and legal obligations.
Support the implementation of new or updated regulatory requirements within the business.
Maintain clear documentation demonstrating compliance, including the business unit compliance plan.
Service Provider & Operational Resilience Support
Support identification and oversight of material service providers relevant to the business.
Ensure operational risks associated with outsourcing and third‐party arrangements are identified and managed.




Contribute to business continuity and operational resilience activities in line with CPS 230.
Risk in Change
Develop risk and compliance artefacts to support change initiatives.
Ensure both delivery and delivered risks associated with change are appropriately managed.
Prepare accurate and timely risk reporting for business leadership and governance forums.
Contribute to management and committee papers as required.
Provide Line 2 Risk & Compliance with information, evidence and insights to support independent oversight.
Promote a strong risk and compliance culture across the business.
Support training and awareness activities to uplift Line 1 risk and compliance capability.
Reinforce explicit roles, responsibilities and accountability under the Three Lines of Accountability model.
About You
You are a confident and pragmatic risk professional who can operate effectively in a fast‐moving business environment and influence senior stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Risk, Law or a related discipline.
Professional certifications in risk management, governance or compliance (desirable).
Strong knowledge of APRA Prudential Standards (including CPS 220 and CPS 230) and relevant ASIC guidance.
Experience
7–10+ years' experience in Line 1 risk and compliance roles within financial services.
Strong background in operational risk, enterprise risk or risk advisory.
Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and maintaining risk management frameworks and policies.
Experience with risk governance, senior leadership engagement, and Board or committee reporting.
Practical experience using GRC platforms and risk data / dashboard tools (desirable).
