About Uluu
Uluu is a Western Australian startup creating the world's first truly compelling alternative to plastic. We produce natural materials, called PHAs, that behave like plastic but are made from seaweed, not fossil fuels. They're biodegradable, non‐toxic, and climate positive at scale.
We are moving into a new industrial facility in Henderson, giving us the space to increase production, grow our team, and work with brand and manufacturing partners to bring Uluu‐made products to the world.
About the role
Working closely with the CFO, you'll own day‐to‐day bookkeeping in Xero, support month‐end close, reporting and grant compliance, and coordinate corporate administration — a hands‐on role at the financial heart of Uluu as we scale from R&D; into production.
Key responsibilities
Financial Accounting:
Own day‐to‐day records in Xero — AP, AR, payment runs, invoicing, bank reconciliations, expenses, and payroll, BAS and GST support.
Month‐End Support:
Assist the CFO with close, reconciliations, cashflow reporting and audit preparation.
Management Accounting:
Support inventory accounting, product costing and BOM data, and help implement an MRP system alongside Xero.
Contracts Management:
Maintain the contract register and coordinate our outsourced corporate service providers.
Grants:
Track grant spend, maintain the compliance calendar and assist with claims and acquittals.
Process Improvement:

Help document, streamline and strengthen finance and administration processes and controls.
About you
Cultural alignment is just as important as technical expertise — we're looking for someone practical, organised and high‐integrity who loves the detail.
An accounting, commerce or business qualification or equivalent experience — CPA / CA well‐regarded.
Strong hands‐on accounting capability — AP, AR, reconciliations and month‐end support — with solid Xero, Excel and Microsoft 365 skills.
A management accounting mindset — you understand production variances and cost per unit, not just the debits and credits.
Exposure to manufacturing or process‐based industries — inventory accounting, BOMs, product costing — and the systems curiosity to help implement an MRP system.
Experience managing contracts or outsourced providers, or supporting grants and R&D; tax incentive claims, is highly desirable.
A generalist administration mindset for a fast‐paced start‐up that is scaling rapidly.
A chance to play a key role in a mission‐driven company solving some of the planet's most urgent environmental challenges – plastic pollution, climate change and ocean exploitation.
Competitive salary and equity package –
share in the success you help create.
A collaborative, fast‐paced setting where your work matters and your ideas are welcome.
EEO Statement
We actively seek diverse perspectives and particularly welcome applications from First Nations people, those identifying as LGBTQIA+, people of all ages and genders, with disabilities, and culturally and linguistically diverse people.
