Anitron is building a biology inspired AI brain for humanoid robots to address the labour shortage in service work.
We are based in Sydney, and are in our first live customer deployments with real environments, real tasks, real people relying on the robot to do what it said it would do.
Our stack combines biology inspired AI, classical robotics, learned policies and agentic orchestration.
The team consists of ML and robotics engineers.
We are in the office full time, because in order to make this work we test and iterate on hardware.
Role Description
You will play a key role in how Anitron takes prototypes from R&D; and turns them into field-ready, measurable, robust capabilities.
You will shape how we test, how we log, how we deploy, and how we know what is working.
This role is for someone who is energised by hands‐on robotics engineering, who is comfortable with ambiguity, and who likes creating structure where there isn't any yet.
You will work alongside the ML and robotics teams to ensure we get repeatable and explainable behaviour.
Responsibilities
Define and run the tests that tell us whether a behaviour is ready to be released and used in the field, and turn the results into quantified failure‐mode analyses that prioritise what we fix next.
Debug mechanical and software integration issues hands‐on, and form clear, communicable hypotheses about why something isn't working so the team can act on them.
Build and maintain the logging, review, and debugging practices that let the team learn from every run on hardware.
Create tools, metrics, and dashboards to track robot fleet performance over time.
Robustify released behaviours by working with the R&D; engineers who originally built them, and ship incremental improvements between major releases.
About You
Bachelor's or Master's in Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience working on robotic systems, with strong system‐level thinking and hands‐on experience debugging across hardware, firmware, and software.
Robust fundamentals in robotics: ROS 2 and the typical stack (perception, planning, control), and comfortable reading and reasoning about bag files and logs.
A genuine love of structure.
You are the kind of person who, when something goes wrong twice, writes down a process to prevent the third time.
The ability to be calm and rigorous under pressure.
You can methodically run a test plan rather than improvise when something is going sideways.
Comfort with ambiguity.
You will not be inheriting a polished system.
You will be inheriting a habit and a principle, and turning them into infrastructure.
The judgement to know what to automate and what to leave manual.
We operate on a "start manual, learn, then automate" principle, and we need someone who can hold that line against the temptation to over‐engineer.
Direct communication.
Comfortable working in a quick‐paced R&D; and production environment.
Bonus Points
Experience with humanoids specifically.
Experience deploying robots in the field, especially in customer‐facing environments.
Experience defining release criteria or test infrastructure
