We're growing and looking for a South Australian Palo Alto specialist to join our team and support secure Defence-aligned environments.
This is a hands‐on engineering role for someone who knows their way around complex firewall infrastructure, understands the importance of disciplined change, and can keep critical systems secure, reliable and fit for purpose.
This is not a "sit in the corner and wait for tickets" role.
You'll be trusted to work directly in a sensitive client environment, support operational outcomes, solve technical problems, and help maintain infrastructure that underpins key national capability.
About the Role
You'll be supporting the administration, operation and uplift of Palo Alto infrastructure across secure research network environments.
The work will include:
Administering and supporting Palo Alto firewall infrastructure
Applying patches and updates in line with formal change management processes
Supporting fault diagnosis, troubleshooting and incident resolution
Managing support tickets in accordance with client incident management processes
Assisting with infrastructure expansion, configuration and design activities
Supporting testing, system administration, incident and problem management
Helping ensure the environment remains secure, available and fit for purpose
Working professionally within a structured Defence/security environment
You'll need to be comfortable operating in a high‐accountability setting where process, judgement and documentation matter — but where practical engineering still wins the day.

You do need to be technically strong, calm under pressure,



and comfortable taking ownership.
We're looking for someone with:
Strong hands‐on experience with Palo Alto Networks technologies
Experience administering enterprise firewall and security infrastructure
Solid understanding of network security, access control and secure gateway patterns
Experience with incident, problem and change management processes
Ability to troubleshoot complex network/security issues methodically
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good documentation habits and a professional approach to client environments
Confidence working in secure, regulated or Defence‐adjacent settings
A delivery mindset — you care about outcomes, not just activity
Experience aligned to SFIA Level 5 network support / network design capability would be highly regarded.
