Degree Apprentice - Civil Engineer Flinders University of South Australia•Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
This degree apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to complete a degree in Civil Engineering (Honours) whilst earning an income.
This Apprenticeship has been developed with Flinders University and City of Charles Sturt.
It is a 5-year Degree Apprenticeship combining in-person and online learning with in office workplace training.
This will give you a unique, hands-on educational experience, enabling you to graduate as a well-rounded Civil Engineer.
You'll gain practical experience in designing, analysing and supporting complex infrastructure projects, including structures, transport systems, water and environmental systems, and ground engineering, while applying principles across geotechnical, structural and infrastructure design.
Places in this program are being offered by a range of employers, including but not limited to City of Charles Sturt, Mount Barker District Council, and CMW Geosciences, with additional partners to be announced.
This course is accredited at the level of professional engineer.
Professional engineering courses accredited by Engineers Australia are recognised internationally under the Washington Accord.
Graduates meet the academic requirements for attaining chartered professional engineering status.
What is a degree apprenticeship?
As with traditional apprenticeships, degree apprenticeships are a combination of paid employment and off-job training.
The key difference is that the off-job training is linked to a university degree and is delivered by a higher education institution.

Working as anApprentice Civil Engineerwill see you work in the Engineering department full time alongside the Civil Engineering teams.




You will undertake rotations through each department to gain an understanding of Civil Engineering, and your day-to-day duties will look as follows:
Work tasks as required to complete hybrid university courses which will be assessed by your employer
Project work as allocated by your supervisor/manager
Performing discipline development activities using existing tools and procedures
Preparation of engineering documentation such as specifications, test procedures and engineering reports
Flexibility to attend your university classes as well as study
Hours:*******-hour/week (Monday-Friday)
Salary:Salary will vary depending on relevant experience, age, and the applicable industry award.
The idealApprentice Civil Engineerwill be readily adaptable to a working environment and eager to undertake different challenges and tasks in their daily activities.
We're looking for a natural problem solver, who shows integrity in their work and has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in how infrastructure shapes the world around us, from structures and transport systems to water, ground conditions and environmental impact.

What you'll study
Graduates will develop a strong foundation in the theoretical and practical aspects of civil engineering, with a focus on infrastructure design, structural and geotechnical engineering, fluid mechanics, infrastructure systems, and sustainable construction.
The course integrates civil engineering design, engineering geology, and project delivery,



supported by practical industry experience.

To secure an offer, successful applicants must meet the academic eligibility requirements and employment requirements of the Degree Apprenticeship.
Citizenship and Employment Requirements
Degree apprenticeship programs are only available to domestic students (Australian citizens, permanent residents, and New Zealand citizens).
Admission to a Degree Apprenticeship is subject to selection by an employer partner and passing industry- required employment checks.
Some employer partners will have higher security clearance requirements.
Academic Requirements
Applicants can apply for this course using the following qualifications: Year 12 results (ATAR 75), the Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), TAFE/VET qualifications, Flinders Foundation Studies or Higher Education transfer.

Applicants will need to meet the subject prerequisite of SACE Stage 2 Specialist Mathematics or Mathematical Methods (or equivalent).
Knowledge of SACE Stage 2 Physics or equivalent is assumed.
