St John of God Subiaco Hospital is seeking experienced
Theatre Orderlies and Orthopaedic Technicians
to join our expanding Perioperative Services team. We have
permanent full-time, part-time and casual opportunities
available for motivated professionals looking to work in a dynamic, patient-focused environment.
As a Theatre Orderly or Orthopaedic Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting safe, efficient and high-quality perioperative care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to exceptional patient outcomes through the delivery of professional, compassionate care and support throughout the surgical journey.
At St John of God Subiaco Hospital, you will work within one of Western Australia's leading private hospitals, featuring:
State-of-the-art technology, including robotic surgical systems and virtual reality imaging technology
17 busy operating theatres supporting a broad range of specialties
A dedicated 46-bed DOSA/DSU
Endoscopy unit with four procedure rooms
Short Stay Unit with three theatres and one procedure room
Two cardiac and vascular intervention laboratories

Successful applicants will be team-focused, adaptable and committed to providing outstanding care and service in a quick-paced perioperative environment. Flexibility to work a variety of rostered shifts will be required.
The Position (Orthopaedic Technician)
Support excellence in orthopaedic patient care by safely positioning patients, maintaining dignity, and ensuring all orthopaedic equipment is prepared, functioning correctly, and used in line with policies and manufacturer guidelines.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing, technical,
and support staff, following directions within the operating room and participating in ongoing education related to orthopaedic procedures.
Coordinate and manage orthopaedic loan equipment and materials by liaising with the Clinical Coordinator, sourcing required equipment at least 24 hours prior to procedures, verifying accuracy and compliance with hospital standards, and participating in trials and evaluations of new equipment.
Ensure orthopaedic equipment readiness by maintaining, troubleshooting, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring all equipment is decontaminated and sterilised in accordance with AS**** and hospital policies, while actively supporting and taking direction from the perioperative team.
The Position (Theatre Orderly)
Participate in care of patients under supervision of nursing caregivers.
Transport patients on trolleys and beds.
Assist in positioning and transferring patients.
Ensure patients' dignity and privacy is maintained.
Hold patients' limbs during preparation for surgery.
Support patients during insertion of epidurals.
Assist PACU caregivers with positioning patients.
As an
Orthopaedic Technician
, you will demonstrate extensive Orthopaedic Surgery experience and a knowledge of Orthopaedic equipment and application.
As a
Theatre Orderly
, you will demonstrate a working knowledge of safe basic manual handling principles and be physically capable of undertaking duties including pushing, pulling and lifting activities.

We can offer you
Orthopaedic Technician salary: $81,827 to $90,256 (pro rata for part time), plus 12% superannuation
Orthopaedic Technician casual hourly rate: $***** to $***** (inclusive casual loading) plus 12% superannuation
Orderly salary: $64,436 to $67,489 (pro rata for part time), plus 12% superannuation
Orderly casual hourly rate: $***** to $***** (inclusive casual loading) plus 12% superannuation
