Across Australia, Men's Sheds are changing lives every day. They provide places where men build friendships, contribute to their communities and improve their health and wellbeing.
Across the Men's Shed movement, there are already inspiring examples of Sheds working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, veterans, men living with disability and many other groups. We want to learn from those examples, strengthen them, and help more communities experience the benefits of Men's Sheds.
We're looking for a Community Inclusion Advisor to help build stronger relationships between Men's Sheds and the communities around them, strengthen culturally safe and inclusive practice, and support more men to experience the connection and belonging that Men's Sheds provide.
The role
Some days you'll be sitting around the table in a Men's Shed, talking with shedders about how they can strengthen relationships with their local community.
Other days you'll be meeting with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, multicultural organisations, councils or community groups, listening to what matters locally and exploring opportunities to work together.
You'll work alongside Men's Sheds to recognise local strengths, identify barriers to participation and support community-led approaches that build genuine inclusion. You'll also help identify examples of great inclusive practice happening across the Men's Shed movement, supporting shared learning and helping other Sheds build on what works.
Working as part of our Shed Development & Outreach team, you'll collaborate across the whole organisation to ensure inclusion is embedded across everything AMSA does.

By building trusted relationships, strengthening cultural capability and supporting community participation, you'll help Men's Sheds become even more welcoming, connected and inclusive places.
Your work will also strengthen AMSA's own capability, contribute to our Reconciliation Action Plan, and contribute to building an even stronger Men's Shed movement across Australia.
What you'll be doing
Building trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, multicultural organisations, councils and other community partners.
Supporting Men's Sheds to strengthen culturally safe and inclusive practices.
Working alongside communities to identify opportunities that strengthen participation and belonging.
Facilitating conversations, workshops and community capacity-building activities.
Supporting the implementation of AMSA's Reconciliation Action Plan and broader inclusion initiatives.
Identifying and sharing examples of good practice that help Men's Sheds learn from one another.
Working collaboratively across AMSA to ensure inclusion is embedded throughout our programs, resources and services.
What we're looking for
You understand that community inclusion is something you build alongside people. You might come from community development, social work, public health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations, multicultural services, local government or another community-focused field.
You know how to build trust, work respectfully alongside communities and support people to develop solutions that make sense locally. You'll be someone who:
Builds genuine relationships and earns trust.
Values strengths-based and community-led approaches.
Understands cultural safety and inclusive practice.




Is comfortable facilitating conversations with diverse groups.
Enjoys travelling to communities and Men's Sheds across Australia.
Works well independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
Is practical, organised and willing to roll up your sleeves.
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and/or culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities will be highly regarded.
