About the Role
We are seeking a Project Engineer with a mechanical, building services or M&E; background to join our North Queensland team. This position can be based in Cairns or Townsville, depending on the successful applicant. In this role, you will support the delivery of fire protection and mechanical systems across a range of commercial and infrastructure projects, working closely with Project Managers, Supervisors, design teams and subcontractors.
This role will suit an engineer who enjoys working across both technical and site-based project coordination, with a focus on installation, testing, and commissioning of fire protection systems.
You will play an important role in coordinating engineering documentation, supporting site delivery and providing technical support throughout project execution.

Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of fire protection and mechanical systems within construction projects
Review drawings, specifications and engineering documentation
Assist with coordination of subcontractors, suppliers and site teams
Assist with procurement activities including preparing purchase orders, sourcing materials and coordinating supplier deliveries
Monitor project progress and ensure works meet technical and quality requirements
Assist with RFIs, technical queries, and engineering documentation
Support testing and commissioning activities for fire protection systems
Maintain accurate project records including procurement documentation and project data
Work closely with Project Managers and Site Supervisors to resolve technical issues
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
3+ years' experience in a project engineering role within construction, M&E;, fire protection or related industries
Experience working on fire protection systems, M&E; installations, or commissioning activities will be highly regarded
Experience working on commercial and infrastructure projects will be highly regarded
Strong understanding of construction processes and site coordination
Ability to interpret technical drawings and project documentation
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively with site and office teams
Experience with project management tools such as Procore, AutoCAD and MS Office are desirable
Candidates must hold valid Australian working rights
