About Us
We're all here to deliver great retirement outcomes for our members. We have a long history with the University sector and today we're a place where future‐minded Australians can all come together. We have a track record of success and a culture focussed on being the best place to work in superannuation. We'll achieve this by bringing our values to life in everything we do – genuine care, being better together and a passion for outcomes. We have a clear plan of what we need to do and want you to help lead that journey. The purpose of Risk & Legal is to help our business partners succeed via valued risk and compliance advice, whilst safeguarding UniSuper through effective controls, assurance and oversight. The Legal team comprises two teams: Corporate Legal and Investments Legal. Both teams support the General Counsel. Join a collaborative legal team where you'll provide impactful advice that helps protect UniSuper and deliver better retirement outcomes for members.
The role
This role provides practical, commercial and risk‐based legal advice across a broad range of matters, supporting Corporate Legal's advisory and negotiations remit. You will partner closely with stakeholders across the business while contributing to the protection of UniSuper's legal position.
Provide high‐quality, timely legal advice across superannuation, financial services, trust and related laws
Review disclosure materials, including product documents and marketing collateral, from a legal perspective
Work on regulatory enquiries, incidents, breaches and remediation activities
Stay across legislative and regulatory developments and apply them in a practical business context
Review and improve policies, procedures and business processes

Identify and navigate legal risks, propose solutions and escalate complex or high‐risk matters where appropriate
About you
You bring strong legal capability and a commercial, risk‐based mindset, with the ability to deliver clear, pragmatic advice across a range of stakeholders. You are cooperative and adaptable, comfortable working independently while exercising sound judgement on when to escalated.
Legal qualifications with a current Victorian practising certificate
Experience in a law firm or in‐house legal environment
Strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear, practical advice
Strong research and analytical capability
Knowledge of superannuation, financial services or trust law (highly desirable)
Ability to exercise sound judgement and manage stakeholder relationships effectively
What We Offer
UniSuper believes that the best way to achieve great things is when we come together and collaborate. Therefore, we ask you to be able to commit to 60% of your time in office. UniSuper is proud of our culture and benefits, which empower our people to achieve their full potential, thrive, and grow their career with us. These include:
17% superannuation contributions
Generous leave including wellbeing days
Learning and career development opportunities

It should go without saying, but at UniSuper, we value and celebrate diversity and inclusion. We believe that a variety of perspectives, backgrounds, interests, abilities, and skills is crucial for delivering great retirement outcomes for our members.
