Collins Executive Recruitment is working with a highly regarded independent investment bank with an exceptional reputation across the Australian M&A; market.
The firm advises public and private companies, private equity sponsors, family offices and business owners on complex mergers and acquisitions, takeovers and strategic transactions.
With a strong track record advising on high-profile and often complex transactions, the investment bank is recognised for its senior-led approach, technical rigour and ability to provide genuinely independent advice. Its work spans sell‐side and buy‐side M&A;, public company takeovers, schemes of arrangement, strategic reviews and other significant corporate transactions.
Due to continued deal activity and a strong forward pipeline, the firm is looking to appoint an Investment Banking Associate to join its M&A; team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Associate seeking greater responsibility across live transactions, direct exposure to senior bankers and clients, and the opportunity to work on high-quality M&A; mandates within a lean and highly regarded investment banking platform.
The Opportunity
Play a key role in the execution of sell‐side and buy‐side M&A; transactions across private and public markets
Build and maintain detailed financial models, valuation analyses and transaction workstreams supporting live mandates
Prepare high-quality transaction and client materials, including information memoranda, management presentations, board materials, strategic analyses and transaction documentation
Support end‐to‐end M&A; processes, including buyer identification, market mapping, due diligence, process management and transaction execution
Undertake detailed company, sector and market analysis to support transaction strategy and client advice
Work closely with senior bankers on transaction structuring, strategic advice,
client meetings and negotiations
Coordinate execution across clients, counterparties, legal advisers, accountants and other transaction participants
Take increasing ownership of key workstreams across live mandates and contribute to the development of junior team members
Maintain exceptionally high standards across financial analysis, presentation quality and transaction execution
Requirements
2‐5 years' experience in investment banking or M&A; advisory
Strong transaction experience across sell‐side or buy‐side M&A;
Experience in public M&A;, takeovers or schemes of arrangement will be viewed favourably
Advanced financial modelling, valuation and analytical capability
Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
Sound commercial judgement and the ability to think strategically about companies and transactions
Ability to perform under pressure in a high‐expectation, transaction‐driven environment
Degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Law or a related discipline
CFA, CA or similar professional qualifications viewed favourably but not essential
