Tasks and responsibilities:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your role will include but is not limited to:
Reading, understanding and interpreting customer design proposals, specifications and other data to evaluate feasibility.
Determining customer restrictions, existing equipment, timelines and budgets.Liaise with management to determine if customer requirements can be met and determine the way forward.
Providing design solutions in line with current Australian Standards.




Researching existing design solutions and determining feasible solutions.
Implementing design solutions based on the most up to date and proven technology.
Understanding manufacturing processes including welding / machining processes, assembly methods etc.
Calculating the efficiency of materials and making appropriate selections based on output ie.
motor drive, sensors, actuators.
Producing accurate and detailed design drawings utilizing CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor and Autocad.
Providing accurate product specifications such as a Bill of Materials to workshop for completion of project.
Engaging structural engineers where required for applicable certifications.
Skills and experience
The successful candidate must meet the below criteria:
Have a tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Be competent in and have advanced knowledge of Autocad, Inventor and / or Solidworks with 2+ years of experience in both programs
Must have experience in sheet metal design
Have strong communication skills
Have a proven mechanical aptitude
Have accurate design skills with high attention to detail
Have excellent organizational and time management skills
Proven ability to work well in a small team setting as well as working autonomously
