About the Role
We are seeking an experiencedSenior Associateto join ourCommercial Litigation team in Melbourne.
The Commercial Litigation team is led byCatherine Ballantyne, Principal and Practice Group Leader, and advises clients across a broad range of complex disputes and litigation matters.
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented litigator to work closely with Catherine and the wider team, managing diverse commercial disputes for private businesses, corporate clients and high-net-worth individuals while further developing their career.
The role offers significant client contact, autonomy in managing matters, mentoring opportunities, and exposure to business development and leadership initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have experience in:
Managing a diverse commercial litigation and dispute resolution practice
Conducting matters across state and federal courts, tribunals, and alternative dispute resolution forums
Advising clients on commercial disputes, contractual issues, shareholder disputes, insolvency-related matters, debt recovery, and general business disputes
Managing client relationships and contributing to business development activities
Supervising, mentoring, and supporting junior lawyers and graduates
About You

Strong technical litigation and dispute resolution skills




Confidence managing files autonomously while working effectively within a team
Strong client relationship and stakeholder management abilities
A proactive approach to mentoring and supporting junior team members
The ability to prioritise competing deadlines and deliver high-quality work
Experience
To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
7+ years' post-admission experience in commercial litigation and dispute resolution
Strong court and dispute resolution experience across a broad range of commercial matters
An established professional network and interest in business development will be highly regarded
