Learning Designer – HSW/EHS Training Systems (UK time zone) – Urban CGI
Based in Sydney, NSW, Australia, this mid‐level senior role focuses on developing behaviour‐led learning systems for high‐consequence construction programmes.
Role seniority: mid level, senior.
What we need
A Learning Designer who thinks in systems and outcomes.
Must understand H&S;/compliance domains, read detailed SOPs, identify behavioural gaps, and create scenario‐driven learning that translates knowledge into action.
Primary tool: Articulate Storyline.
Focus on behavioural change as the outcome.
The problem we're solving
Many SOPs contain behavioural gaps at the sequence level, especially under pressure.
Tick‐box modules do not influence real decisions on site.
We aim to create training that improves decision‐making and reduces preventable incidents.
What you'll build
Translate SOPs into multimedia learning systems using video, posters, workbooks, quizzes, and scenarios.
Map sequence thought processes to understand how workers navigate each decision point and design learning that mirrors that journey.
Develop behaviour‐led, scenario‐heavy modules that require doing the SOP, not just completing it.
Create decision‐point architecture from real SME briefs, even when they appear contradictory.
Deliver HSW/EHS modules to client LMSs for live construction programmes.
Produce learning systems that drive culture, performance, and incident reduction.
About you
Deep experience in compliance, H&S; or high‐consequence training design.
Skilled at transforming complex SOPs into multimedia learning narratives, briefing creators,

and driving content strategy.
Portfolio demonstrating domain expertise and learning‐design capability.
Expertise in Articulate Storyline (Rise experience welcomed).
Available in UK time zone, fluent in English.
Immediately available and able to start quickly (trial possible).
Honest about gaps in knowledge.
Independent freelancer only – agencies not considered.
When you apply
Answer the following: "How would you translate an SOP into a learning module with multimedia elements (video, posters, workbook, quizzes) to measure outcomes and encourage repeated use by workers in the field?"
Submit a brief Loom introduction (2–3 minutes) covering your background, interest, salary expectation, and availability (date and weekly hours).
Share portfolio examples of training systems you've designed, focusing on high‐consequence environments with scenario‐driven learning.
Before we jump into the responsibilities of the role, we'll support your growth.
We value continuous learning.
Please consider applying even if you don't meet 100% of what's outlined.
