About the Opportunity
As University Dive Officer, you will provide specialist leadership and advice to foster culture of excellence in diving and vessel operations, ensuring risks are effectively managed and activities are conducted safely and efficiently. Working within the Safety and Wellbeing team, you will play a key role in embedding a contemporary approach to strengthening safety systems and supporting continuous improvement across the University's diving operations.
Success in this role will come from your ability to build trusted relationships and genuinely engage with stakeholders across the dive community. Working closely with the Dive Safety Committee, Dive Officers, Dive Coordinators and People Leaders, you'll listen, consult and partner with others to develop safe, practical, and effective systems of work.
While recognised as a subject matter expert, you'll be part of a supportive and collaborative team that values diverse perspectives and encourages individuals to bring their expertise, ideas and authentic selves to work.
Regular field-based engagement is a key aspect of the role, providing opportunities to observe operations firsthand, understand work as it is performed and ensure safety processes and procedures are grounded in operational reality. Through this approach, you'll help foster a safe, connected and high-performing culture.

What's Required
Extensive qualified safety and wellbeing experience in a large and/or complex organisation, or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
Success in building interpersonal relationships and influencing stakeholders to invoke changed behaviours to safety and improve culture.
Experience developing and delivering well-articulated and visual resources (procedures, guidelines, training packages) for delivery to staff.
Proven capability to deliver successful outcomes as a team member and independently.
Well-developed, applied project management skills with proven ability to balance competing demands, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines.
Highly desirable: experience working in a marine research environment.
Qualifications and Licences
Qualifications and knowledge as required within AS/NZS ****** Occupational diving operations Part 2: Scientific diving for the role of Dive Officer:
Certification to AS ****** Restricted Scuba Diver or approved equivalent.
Drivers licence- car
Certification to AS ****** Occupational Scuba Diver or approved equivalent.
Certification to AS ****** Restricted Occupational Surface Supplied or approved equivalent.
Coxswain certificate or vessel operational knowledge

Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $152,033 comprising base salary within the range of $114,383 to $129,943 plus 17% superannuation.
