Job Description
The Finance Director will serve as the senior finance leader for Cubico's Australian business, providing strategic financial leadership across the full project lifecycle including development, construction, operations, optimisation and M&A; activity. Reporting into regional and global leadership, the role will be a key member of the Australian Leadership Team, partnering closely with the Country Head to support strategic, commercial, operational and investment decisions.
The Finance Director will serve as the senior finance leader for Cubico's Australian business, providing strategic financial leadership across the full project lifecycle including development, construction, operations, optimisation and M&A; activity. Reporting into regional and global leadership, the role will be a key member of the Australian Leadership Team, partnering closely with the Country Head to support strategic, commercial, operational and investment decisions.
The successful candidate will lead all core finance functions, including financial reporting, FP&A;, governance and controls, tax, treasury, valuation, insurance, project finance, and lender management. The role requires strong leadership capability, deep understanding of renewable energy infrastructure and experience building and developing high‐performing finance teams within complex and growing organisations.
This individual will play a critical role in supporting Cubico's continued growth by ensuring robust financial management, effective stakeholder engagement, strong governance, and value creation across the portfolio.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related discipline.
Skilled finance qualification (CPA, CA or equivalent).
Significant senior finance leadership experience, including building, developing, and managing successful finance teams.
Strong experience within the renewable energy, infrastructure, or wider energy sector.
Deep understanding of project finance structures, lender management, and infrastructure financing.
Proven experience supporting businesses through the full project lifecycle, including development, construction, and operations.
Experience overseeing financial reporting, governance, controls, treasury, tax, and audit functions.
Experience supporting M&A;, acquisitions, refinancing, and investment activity.




Experience operating in complex, fast-paced, and international environments.
Experience within relevant jurisdiction highly desirable.
Strong strategic and commercial acumen.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
Proactive, resilient, and adaptable leadership style.
Job Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
Act as the senior finance lead for the business, providing strategic financial insight to the Country Head and Leadership Team.
Serve as a core member of the leadership team, influencing commercial, operational, and investment decisions.
Provide financial decision support across all material business matters for local and head office stakeholders.
Support the continued growth and strategic development of the platform.
Financial Reporting, Planning & Performance
Lead all statutory and management financial reporting activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Group and local requirements.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, long‐term planning, and financial performance management processes.
Deliver meaningful financial analysis, KPI reporting, and variance analysis to support business performance and decision‐making.
Ensure strong financial visibility across development, construction, and operational assets.
Financial Governance, Controls & Audit
Establish and continuously improve financial governance frameworks, internal controls, policies, and procedures.
Lead the external audit process and act as the primary point of contact for auditors.
Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, regulatory obligations, and Group policies.
Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strong financial discipline.
Tax & Regulatory Management
Oversee all tax matters including corporate income tax, indirect taxes, transfer pricing, and tax compliance.
Manage relationships with external tax advisers and local authorities.




Mitigate tax and regulatory risks while ensuring alignment with Group tax strategy.
Treasury, Cash & Risk Management
Lead treasury activities including cash management, liquidity planning, banking relationships, and covenant compliance.
Manage foreign exchange, interest rate exposure, and financial risks in line with Group treasury policies.
Oversee insurance and claims management processes to ensure adequate coverage across assets and activities.
Finance & Lender Management
Manage relationships with lenders and financial institutions
Support the structuring and execution of debt financings and refinancing.
Valuation & Investment Support
Oversee valuation processes for the biannual portfolio valuation process.
Support M&A;, acquisition, divestment, and refinancing activity through financial analysis, due diligence, and transaction support.

Full Project Lifecycle Financial Support
Partner closely with development, construction, and operations teams to optimise project economics and returns.
Provide financial leadership and commercial insight throughout the project lifecycle.
Support business cases, investment approvals, and strategic initiatives.
Stakeholder & External Engagement
Act as the senior finance counterpart to local authorities, regulators, lenders, banks, investors, JV partners and external advisers.
Build strong relationships with financial institutions and key external stakeholders.
Represent the business credibly in external discussions and negotiations.
Team Leadership & Capability Development
Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing local finance team.
Create a collaborative and high-performance culture focused on accountability and development.
Establish clear objectives, succession planning, and development pathways for team members.
Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, systems, and capabilities.
