Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Structural Draftsperson to join our team in Maddington, WA.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced draftsperson who enjoys producing high-quality technical drawings and seeing designs progress from concept through to manufacture.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with our Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing detailed structural steel, fabrication and manufacturing drawings for overhead cranes, runway systems and customised lifting equipment.
You will play an integral role in supporting engineering, manufacturing and project delivery by producing accurate documentation that enables efficient fabrication and assembly.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed structural steel, fabrication and assembly drawings using AutoCAD.
Produce and revise CAD drawings in accordance with engineering requirements, customer specifications and Australian Standards.
Interpret structural engineering calculations and design information to produce accurate manufacturing documentation.
Revise drawings following engineering, workshop and client feedback.
Prepare detailed workshop drawings, bills of materials and fabrication documentation.




Maintain drawing registers, revision control and engineering documentation.
Liaise with engineers, workshop personnel and project managers throughout the project lifecycle.
Support manufacturing by responding to drawing queries and implementing approved design updates.
Ensure drawings comply with company drafting standards and relevant Australian Standards.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of drafting processes, documentation and drawing standards.
About You
Essential
Certificate IV, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Engineering Drafting, Structural Drafting or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience as a Structural Draftsperson, Engineering Draftsperson, CAD Draftsperson or similar role within structural steel, manufacturing, heavy industry or materials handling.
Proficiency using AutoCAD.
Robust attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate technical drawings.
Ability to interpret structural engineering calculations, fabrication details and technical specifications.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively within a team.




Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with engineers, workshop personnel and project managers.
Desirable
Experience within the overhead crane, lifting equipment, structural steel or heavy manufacturing industries.
Knowledge of Australian Standards including AS ****, AS/NZS ****, AS **** and AS ****.
Experience producing structural steel fabrication and assembly drawings.
Experience using Autodesk Inventor or other 3D CAD software.
Knowledge of steel fabrication, machining and welding processes.
Experience maintaining drawing registers and engineering documentation.
