The Role
We're seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Diving and Hyperbaric Systems team in Caringbah. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to unique subsea and hyperbaric technologies that make a real difference.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager – Diving and Hyperbaric, the successful candidate will ensure engineering outputs meet JFD's technical standards while supporting both Defence and commercial projects.
What You'll Be Doing
Providing engineering support for diving and hyperbaric systems across defence and commercial projects.
Delivering mechanical engineering input into bids, scope development, and cost estimations.
Creating and maintaining Assembly, Inspection and Test Plans (AITPs), work instructions, and technical documentation.
Managing engineering drawings and documentation through configuration and change control processes.
Designing and developing mechanical components, assemblies, and associated engineering documentation using SolidWorks.
Producing engineering calculations, technical reports, and design documentation as required.
Supporting quality assurance activities, engineering investigations, and root cause analysis.
Working closely with production teams to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturing outcomes.
Ensuring engineering activities comply with JFD standards, processes, and technical authority requirements.
What We're Looking For
Qualification in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) with experience in a mechanical or production engineering setting.
Previous experience in a through-life support maintenance environment, within the Defence industry desirable.
Competent with updating, maintaining and controlling drawings,
documentation and procedures.
Experience in using Solidworks for drafting, modelling and design (desirable).
Experience with PLM Systems, including demonstrated experience in configuration and configuration change management.
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
Strong attention to detail, capable of producing and contributing towards faultless engineering output.
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks while meeting key deliverables on time.
Primary software aptitudes: 3D Modelling (Solidworks desirable), 2D Drawing (AutoCAD desirable), Lascom PLM/Advitium, MS Office Suite – intermediate knowledge in Excel and Word.
C Class Driver's Licence.
