Help protect the technology underpinning one of Australia's largest renewable energy projects.
Act as the technical counterpart to the Cyber MSSP, validating controls and security outcomes
Partner with architecture, operations and delivery teams to embed security from day one
Hybrid working across Parramatta/Sydney CBD
You have built your career in technical cybersecurity and enjoy improving environments rather than simply maintaining them.
You understand that effective cybersecurity isn't just about monitoring alerts or responding to incidents. It's about implementing practical controls, validating security outcomes and working closely with technology teams to strengthen resilience across the organisation.
In most organisations, security controls, operating models and provider relationships have evolved over many years.
Here, you're helping establish them.
ACEREZ is building the enterprise technology setting that will support the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone. Cybersecurity capability needs to be embedded from the beginning, not added later.
Working closely with the Cybersecurity Manager, you'll help turn cybersecurity strategy into practical capability across enterprise technology while providing technical oversight of the managed security environment.
This is an opportunity to work across cloud, infrastructure, identity, operational technology interfaces, managed security services and regulatory assurance within one of Australia's most significant critical infrastructure programs.
About the Role
Reporting to the Cybersecurity Manager, you'll provide technical cybersecurity analysis, implementation and assurance across ACEREZ's enterprise technology environment.
You'll act as the internal technical counterpart to the Cyber MSSP,
reviewing monitoring, detection, vulnerability management and security operations to ensure services are delivering the outcomes expected.
Working closely with Architecture, Technology Operations and Program Delivery, you'll help embed security into new technology initiatives while supporting the continual improvement of cyber capability across the organisation.
You'll also contribute to regulatory obligations across SOCI, AESCSF and the Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Program, supporting audit activities, maintaining assurance evidence and ensuring remediation activities are effectively tracked through to completion.
The role is based in Parramatta. There will be an initial period of regular collaboration in the Sydney CBD as the team is established. The role offers flexibility across NSW, with the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone as the primary field environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Review and challenge Cyber MSSP outputs across monitoring, detection, threat intelligence and vulnerability management
Validate security controls and identify opportunities to strengthen cyber resilience
Coordinate penetration testing and security assessments, ensuring findings are remediated
Provide cybersecurity input into cloud, infrastructure, networking, identity and Microsoft platform initiatives
Support regulatory and assurance activities across critical infrastructure obligations
Contribute to threat modelling, security architecture reviews and technology design decisions
Maintain cyber assurance evidence and track remediation activities through to completion
Translate technical findings into clear recommendations for technology and business stakeholders
What You'll Bring
Experience in a Cybersecurity Analyst, Security Engineer or similar technical cybersecurity role
Strong experience within critical infrastructure and IT/OT security
Strong understanding of managed security services, threat detection and vulnerability management
Experience across Microsoft security technologies, cloud and enterprise infrastructure environments
Exposure to security frameworks, audit or regulatory compliance within a complex organisation
Broad understanding of identity, endpoint, network and cloud security principles
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and recommend practical improvements
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across technology teams
A proactive mindset with a genuine interest in continuously improving cybersecurity capability
About ACEREZ and the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone
ACEREZ Partnership is a consortium comprised of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, appointed by EnergyCo to design, deliver, operate and maintain the transmission network for the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone.
This infrastructure will enable large-scale renewable generation, supporting reliable and affordable energy supply across NSW while contributing to the state's Net Zero targets.
