Data Center Regional Engineer – Colo Electrical Engineer

AWS Infrastructure Services designs, plans, delivers, and operates AWS global infrastructure. We support all data centers and critical equipment to keep customers online. This role provides full life‐cycle support for data centers in Sydney, acting as the engineering resource for your region and leading projects that expand our fleet.
Key Responsibilities
Work with colo vendors to review the design for new Data Centers, provide design input, submittal review and incorporate AWS products to ensure the design meets AWS expectations.
Act as resident engineer during recent colo construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and handover.
Conduct Root Cause Analysis and create Corrective Action documentation for site/equipment failures.
Support operational issues with ad‐hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, and event support.
Perform technical support for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
Lead engineering site audits in leased or colo data centers, produce reports outlining risks and recommended mitigations.
Interface with operating partners, design engineering, server hardware, environmental health and safety teams to promote standards and maintain consistency.




Manage concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.

Each day you will interact with teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers, prioritise activities to support capacity availability and safety, and focus on the most impactful actions.
Basic Qualifications
6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‐critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil and gas).
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
Experience in design (construction drawings, specifications, submittal documents).
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
