The Third In Charge (3IC) plays a key leadership role in supporting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to deliver exceptional customer experiences while driving operational excellence.
With a robust focus on stock management, inventory accuracy, visual merchandising, and daily store operations, the 3IC ensures the store is organised, efficient, and ready to achieve sales and performance goals.
The role is hands-on, leading by example on the shop floor while overseeing operational standards, stock processes, and supporting the development of the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Support
Support the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in the day-to-day running of the store.
Lead the team in the absence of senior leaders, ensuring smooth store operations.
Coach and motivate team members to deliver outstanding customer service.
Foster a positive, high-performing team culture that reflects the brand values.
Assist with onboarding and training new team members.
Stock & Inventory Management
Take ownership of inventory processes, ensuring high levels of stock accuracy.
Coordinate and manage stock deliveries, replenishment, transfers, and returns.
Execute stocktakes and cycle counts, investigating discrepancies and implementing solutions.
Maintain an organised and efficient stockroom that supports sales and operational needs.
Monitor stock availability and communicate inventory concerns to store leadership.
Minimise stock loss through effective inventory controls and loss prevention practices.
Operations
Ensure operational procedures are completed accurately and on time.
Support opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and compliance with company policies.
Maintain high standards of store presentation, cleanliness, and safety.
Execute visual merchandising standards and support seasonal floor set changes.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and productivity.
Customer Experience




Deliver an exceptional customer experience through knowledgeable and engaging service.
Support the team in achieving individual and store sales targets.
Resolve customer enquiries and concerns professionally and efficiently.
Lead by example in creating an inclusive and welcoming shopping environment.
Performance & Results
Support the achievement of sales, KPI, and productivity targets.
Use reporting and store data to identify opportunities in stock management and operational performance.
Contribute to action plans that improve store efficiency and commercial outcomes.
Skills & Experience
Previous leadership experience in retail, preferably within fashion, activewear, or lifestyle brands.
Strong understanding of retail stock management and inventory control.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Confident in leading and motivating a team.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and peak trading periods.
