The Role
As Cyber Security Engineering Lead, you will play a critical role in protecting TasWater's IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments by leading the design, implementation and continuous improvement of cyber security capabilities. You will provide technical leadership across security engineering initiatives, strengthen cyber resilience, and work closely with stakeholders to ensure secure, reliable and compliant technology solutions that support the delivery of essential water services to the Tasmanian community.
Key responsibilities include:
Acting as a trusted cyber security advisor, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and representing the cyber security function across the organisation.
Partnering with project and technology teams to embed security-by-design principles throughout the delivery lifecycle and ensure security requirements are integrated into business and technology initiatives.
Leading cyber incident response and recovery activities, applying technical expertise to contain threats, remediate issues and enhance organisational resilience.
Driving the implementation and continuous improvement of security controls across IT and OT environments to protect critical systems and services.
Identifying,



assessing and managing cyber security risks through vulnerability management, security assurance activities and proactive threat mitigation.
Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory obligations, industry standards and Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act requirements while fostering a robust culture of cyber security awareness and accountability.
What we're looking for
We're seeking an experienced cyber security professional with a strong security engineering background and a proven ability to operate effectively in complex IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments. You will be a proactive and collaborative leader who can build trusted relationships across the organisation, influence stakeholders at all levels, and translate cyber security requirements into practical business outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will bring experience designing, implementing and operating cyber security controls across diverse technology environments, while balancing competing priorities and delivering results in a fast-paced environment. You will have a strong understanding of cyber security risk management, secure-by-design principles and project delivery frameworks, ideally within a regulated or critical infrastructure organisation.
Key requirements:
Minimum five years' experience in a cyber security role operating within complex environments and managing competing priorities.
Demonstrated ability to independently design, implement and operate cyber security controls across IT and OT environments.
Relevant qualifications, or equivalent experience, in Cyber Security, Information Technology or a related discipline.
Robust stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills,



with the ability to translate technical concepts into practical business outcomes.
Sound knowledge of cyber security frameworks, standards and regulatory obligations, including NIST, ISO *****, IEC ***** and the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act.

The Details
This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of
$157,359 - $174,843 (inclusive of superannuation)
