Audience Editor
Seven West Media is looking for an Audience Editor to oversee the day‐to‐day operations of its groundbreaking national digital newspaper, thenightly.com.au.
In this senior position you will liaise with newsroom leaders to help devise strategies to drive audience and reader engagement.
About The Role
Curate the homepage and ensure our digital content is represented in a way that maximises homepage engagement.
Maximise direct click‐through on the homepage through best‐practice A/B headline testing.
Analyse opportunities for content that attracts current audiences using tools such as Google Trends, Google Discover and Google Search Console.
Identify opportunities for audience growth.
Coordinate editorial teams by building story lists containing content that attracts new audiences and engages existing ones.
Identify video‐led content opportunities.
Optimise digital content in line with best‐practice SEO.
Use data and analytics to monitor and report on audience behaviour, further refine content strategy and empower our teams.




Keep up with the latest breaking news locally, nationally and internationally – and move quickly to mobilise the editorial teams for coverage of these stories.
Help maintain an editorial planner to assist with the proactive planning of major news events.
Assist in ensuring social media, off‐platform and content strategy goals are met.
About You
Intimate knowledge of online publishing, social media and digital news.
A strong understanding of digital audiences across all platforms.
The ability to manage competing deadlines and work in a fast‐paced environment.
Curious and engaged, with the ability to work alone or collaborate in a team environment.
