The Opportunity
We are looking for aSenior Mechanical Engineerto play a key role within our Brisbane team.
Drawing on your technical excellence and problem-solving mindset, you will lead the delivery of engineering solutions across a varied portfolio of greenfield and brownfield projects in the resources and renewable energy sectors.
This position provides the opportunity to take ownership of complex project work, and make a meaningful contribution to our client and business success.
Responsibilities:
Deliver innovative, fit-for-purpose mechanical, materials handling and piping engineering solutions that meet quality standards, project budgets, and schedules.
Deliver and review detailed mechanical and piping engineering calculations for hydraulic systems, conveying systems and mechanical equipment sizing.
Prepare and review technical specifications, design criteria, equipment datasheets and scopes of work aligned with statutory, industry and client requirements.
Contribute to 3D models and 2D mechanical and piping drawings.
Provide strategic direction, technical guidance, effective delegation and mentorship to multidiscipline design team.
Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and office locations, contributing through all phases of projects, from concept and design to commissioning.
Drive development and continuous improvement of mechanical and piping design tools, including drawings, datasheets, equipment schedules and models
Embed Safety in Design principles throughout engineering activities, conducting thorough risk assessments and ensuring compliance.
Provide clear project communication, offering concise updates, addressing challenges proactively,
and maintaining alignment with stakeholders.
Develop scopes of work, technical studies, proposals, and capital cost estimates, supporting both project execution and tendering efforts.
Support onsite activities, including inspections, risk assessments, and commissioning, ensuring seamless project delivery and client satisfaction.
The Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (or related tertiary qualification)
Current RPEQ (Mechanical) and CPEng professional memberships (mandatory)
Over 7+ years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer, specialising in design within the resources, and renewables sectors.
Strong background in multidisciplinary consulting environments, collaborating across diverse teams and complex project portfolios
Materials handling design, including both wet and dry mineral processing plants.
Experience in pumping and piping design.
Experience using Fluidflow and Autopipe highly regarded.
Experience delivering both greenfield and brownfield projects, from minor works to major scopes.
Robust foundation in industry codes (Australian and ASME), design safety standards, and best practices, with a practical, safety-conscious approach to engineering.
Skilled in technical writing and communication, including proposals, technical reports, and project documentation.
