Position Overview
The C4I Systems Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support and technical expertise across command, control, communications, combat and intelligence (C4I) activities within Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA).
Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, the role contributes to the planning, integration, testing and delivery of C4I solutions across HDA's business units.
This position is well suited to an early-career engineer looking to develop their experience in defence systems, vehicle electronic architectures, systems engineering and military communications technologies.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and subject matter experts, gaining exposure to complex defence programs while building technical capability and qualified engineering skills.
The C4I Engineer supports the delivery of engineering activities to ensure project outcomes are achieved in accordance with customer requirements, legislative obligations and engineering best practice.
This role may also support systems-security engineering activities.
Primary Duties
Perform engineering activities for the programme's Electronic Architecture (EA), particularly HDA's implementation of AS GVA and AS LDM.
Support engineering activities in the field of systems-security engineering.
Provide technical input to engineering planning, scheduling and execution activities.
Undertake systems engineering activities including requirements analysis and management, system safety, configuration audits, verification and validation activities.
Assist in the development, preparation and on-time delivery of Engineering DIDs and supporting activities.
Support the evaluation of delivered materiel against customer requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks, providing recommendations and contributing to the implementation of actions.
Assist with risk analysis activities to ensure key risks are identified, monitored and mitigated.
Support the consideration and incorporation of system safety requirements within engineering activities and system solutions.
Work collaboratively as part of the engineering and broader Hanwha team to deliver quality engineering outcomes.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with team members, stakeholders and subcontractors.
Work with all contributing parties to support the quality of deliverables and customer engagements.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, tailoring communication style and language as required.
Support the operation and management of the Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL).
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes and practices.
Other duties as required by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Mandatory
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Science discipline.
Qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
Working towards, or eligible for, Engineers Australia Chartered Professional Engineer status.
Experience
1-5 years of experience in electronics, electrical, communications, software, C4I and/or systems integration activities, preferably within defence, aerospace, automotive or other complex technical environments.
Exposure to systems engineering activities across the engineering lifecycle is desirable.
Experience with Battle Management System (BMS)-C2, BMS-F and/or DTCS is desirable but not essential.
Exposure to C4ISREW systems and capabilities is desirable.
Experience using Zuken software to develop schematics and wiring diagrams is desirable.
Knowledge of military standards and regulations relating to vehicle development is desirable.
Experience gained through graduate programmes, internships,
university projects or industry placements will be considered.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security clearance up to NV1 (must be an Australian Citizen).
