The Role
As a Graduate at SMEC, you'll be part of a high-impact talent group, contributing to the delivery of major infrastructure projects alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists.
Our two-year Graduate Development Program (GDP) is designed to accelerate your growth - combining hands-on project experience with structured learning, mentoring, and exposure across teams and disciplines.
Once completed, successful Graduates move along our Career Pathways, transitioning to their Qualified title (either 'Graduate' or 'Scientist' depending on the technical discipline) and then onwards.
Growth is a balanced blend of experience, tenure, development, goals and desired trajectory.
What You Can Expect
Real project exposure from day one across major infrastructure projects
A connected ANZ graduate network and strong peer community
Mentoring from senior engineers and technical specialists
Structured development through workshops, online learning, and immersive experiences
Opportunities to build consulting skills including communication, collaboration, and problem-solving
Industry and global networking opportunities across the SJ Group
Ongoing development beyond the GDP, with support for further study
Key Responsibilities
You'll support the delivery of water resources projects from day one - contributing to flood studies,

modelling and technical analysis while learning from experienced engineers and gaining exposure to project and stakeholder delivery.
Contribute to flood studies and assessments by analysing data and evaluating the impacts of flood mitigation options on infrastructure and communities
Assist with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling activities, supporting the development and refinement of models to assess water flow, flooding and drainage behaviour
Support technical analysis by working with project data, model outputs and engineering inputs to inform project outcomes
Collaborate with project team members to support coordinated delivery across modelling, design and reporting activities
Develop your technical capability by learning and applying industry tools, modelling software and best practice through structured and on-the-job experience
About You
You're a motivated Graduate who enjoys problem-solving, working in teams, and contributing to real-world projects.
You Will Bring
Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, or a related discipline
Familiarity with modelling software, including hydrologic and hydraulic tools (e.g. TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, Source)
Exposure to stormwater design or modelling tools such as 12D or Drains
At Surbana Jurong, we put talent, hard work, teamwork and a fun workplace together to approach problems and solve them creatively and collaboratively.
Join us in making a positive impact on the world!
